
Shirley Venard

Originally from St. Louis, MO. Ms. Venard began private tutelage from Ann Heritage Scott, The Macphail School, Minneapolis. She continued acting through early school into college, graduating from the University of Minnesota. She found her life’s work in theatre and film and commercial radio/TV. On local and regional stages, she has portrayed many of literature’s great women. At the Guthrie Theater under Garland Wright’s direction she played, among others, a Queen, a Duchess and a Nun in the memorable History Plays Cycle. Other coveted roles include Mae in Exit Strategy with the late Charles Nolte, Virginia in Jeffrey Hatcher’s Three Viewings, Dolly in Hello, Dolly!, Mrs. Malaprop in The Rivals, Betty and Mrs. Saunders in C. Churchill’s Cloud 9, Martha in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Jocasta in Oedipus Rex and more. Ms Venard looks forward to the compelling roles in her future.
